To use either the mod or the CC connection from the game you have to have a bethesda account for the game to connect or login to. Sometimes even with an account it has trouble connecting. Most of the mods found under the mods button have a nexus version there are a few exceptions and there are a lot of mods on nexus that will never be on the bethesda mod page due to limits as it was basically intended to be a way for consoles to get mods and what one can do in the way of modding the console version of the game is restricted by the console makers.

Just look for tabs allowing you to sort your plugin list, i do recommend using clean installation as well, mod manager can install mods without touching game's files being in same time easier to remove.
